Forces of Fantasy

Quality over quantity in this 97th issue of White Dwarf. There are not many Warhammer Fantasy (related) articles, but there is one. And it's a big one: a scenario with 4 opposing forces (2 a side), Dwarfs vs Greenskins. Looks fun to play. Now to find some Dwarf Pikemen...

No, dear listener, I'm not calling YOU a lobotomized human slave... Although... were I a Slann, I might. We unpack the Slann mercenary force and quite a bit more 3rd edition goodness (including a behind the scenes look by Richard Halliwell) in this look at White Dwarf 96.

We continue our Warhammer 3rd edition background section with a look at the timeline - divided into the Elder Age (covering Elves and Dwarfs) and the Age of Man. I wonder what race that last one is about. Probably Halflings. (Yes, there's Halflings in there, don't worry).

Alright, this should have been episode 60, or perhaps 59a. Either way, it should have come before the lore section. But it didn't. The world is changed. I feel it in the water. I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air. But mostly, I read it in the lore section of the 3rd edition WHFB Rulebook. We'll take a look at how the world has been changed (by the Slann and the collapse of their warp gates), as well as how the world has changed from 2nd to 3rd, and from 3rd to later editions. While a lot of pieces are in place, GW is still finding its footing with the development of the Warhammer World.

We're unpacking White Dwarf 95 on this episode, and boy, is there a lot to unpack. Tons of new miniatures, and of course a special feature teasing the rules for Warhammer Fantasy Battles 3rd edition.

The Warhammer Summer Reveal promises some new minis and rules for you Old World fans (as well as some new potential minis for use in your older editions of Warhammer). Speaking of older editions, White Dwarf 93 reveals what the (then) new game Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader is all about. So for just this once, we'll spend a bit of time reflecting on 40k as well as Fantasy.

What do Wyverns, Dragons, Minotaurs and Giant Scorpions have in common? They're all featured in White Dwarf 92, alongside such goodies as the Goblin Battle Chariots (yes, plural), Scarloc's Scouts, Wizards, ninja's and Chaos (both the Dwarfs and the Thugs variety). An audio-only look at a miniatures heavy White Dwarf. There'll be an article next time, I promise!

In this episode, we discuss all the Warhammer goodness in White Dwarf 91 - and it is PACKED with new miniatures (well, they were new at some point), WFRP (although I won't go into that) and an awesome looking 4-player scenario in Dog Peak Pass, Black Fire Pass' lesser known counterpart. And yes, there is a mechanic in this scenario for tossing Dwarf snowballs. And no, these are not snowballs thrown by Dwarfs.
